Sleep is anything but a waste of time. 71% of Americans sleep for less than 8 hours each night, and at a minimum for health, we need 7 to 8 hours.
Hormone imbalance, such as low progesterone and high cortisol, can interrupt the sleep cycle. When your body is dealing with prolonged stress it can produce excess cortisol. Cortisol is chemically related to the proper production of important sleep hormones like melatonin and L-tryptophan. When our body is “over making” cortisol it may not be able to make a sufficient amount of the related downstream hormones.
As a naturopath I am always looking at the root cause of why there is an imbalance in the body. When it comes to disrupted sleep, I have seen great results once the adrenal glands are nourished and sported.
Melatonin is your sleep hormone; it plays a huge roll in both sleep and immune function. When night falls melatonin leaks from your penal gland, your brain becomes flooded with the potent sleep hormone GABA (gamma-aminobutyric) acid and viola you drift off to a-la land. The problem is as that when we get older, our melatonin levels like many other of our hormones begin to decline. Melatonin’s most important role is to enhance production of youthful growth hormones. The ant aging benefits occur with natural secretion as well as with dietary supplementation.
The nutraMetrix is one of the most potent formulas I have seen!
